It turns out that the new kittens we adopted in September have been exposed to feline leukemia .... the woman we got them from didn't disclose this until a few days after we got them. She had another cat living with the kittens that was infected.

When we had them spayed we found out that "Sliver" is anemic. We are taking her for a re-check today as this is a sign of the virus going active. I am trying to stay positive. I know this is not an immediate death sentence and we are hopeful that even if they are both sick maybe we can keep them healthy and comfortable for a long time. thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

Some good news.... Sliver's anemia is gone!
Vet wants to retest for the feline leukemia in a few months but I'm not sure why since there is no treatment except good care and low stress.
Thanks for the good thoughts, I feel pretty hopeful that all will be well :)

Years ago we had a cat test positive for feline leukemia, and the vet wanted to put her down. My husband refused and nursed his cat back to health. She lived to be 19.
